A presumed portrait of François Blanc, the famous French businessman and real estate developer nicknamed "the Magician of Monte Carlo." He was the man who developed the Monte Carlo district, including the Monte Carlo Casino and the Hôtel de Paris. He was the father of Edmond Blanc. A photograph of an older François Blanc exists, yet the features—particularly the nose, chin, shape of the ear, and eyebrows—match those in our portrait.
