Antique Japanese Bronze Mixed Metal Landscape Vase, Meiji Period
A fine antique Japanese mixed-metal bronze vase dating from the Meiji period (1868–1912), standing 21.3 cm high.
An elegant twin-handled vase of lobed form with a flared rim, raised on four scrolling feet. The body is richly decorated with applied mixed-metal relief work depicting a traditional Japanese landscape scene, while the reverse is adorned with reeds and a butterfly. Contrasting bronze, silver and copper alloys create a subtle polychrome effect characteristic of fine Japanese metalwork of the Meiji period.
