Impero Drop-top Desk
An exceptionally elegant secretaire with a drop-leaf top, veneered in mahogany and embellished with refined gilded bronze appliqués. The interior features light-colored woodwork; crafted by French artisans during the early Empire period.
The front design is framed by two beautiful tall columns with finely chiseled gilded bronze bases and capitals, featuring a large drop-down panel (upper section) and two doors (lower section). It follows the typical design of this type of furniture, which originated during the Napoleonic era and is known as a Secrétaire. The appearance is distinctly marked by the beautiful aesthetic effect of the mahogany veneer, which imparts a luminous brilliance to the entire piece, further enhanced by the excellent restoration carried out by our team of restorers using the traditional shellac and buffing method.
