Centerpiece Gilded Bronze In Three Parts, Directoire Period
Beautiful three-part table top, centerpiece.
In gilt bronze with mirror background, oblong in shape with rounded ends, it rests on small, finely chased arched legs ending in balls.
It is framed by an openwork gallery, composed of a regular frieze of balusters alternating with flattened projections.
This meplat decoration is distinguished by a stylized flower motif framed by two leaves symmetrically arranged on either side, an ornamental feature that sets this model apart.
Designed to adorn the center of reception tables, this piece was probably used to hold candelabras, porcelain, glassware or floral arrangements, with the mirror backdrop multiplying the play of light from the candles.
Original Directoire-period work with fine chasing and gilding.
