The quality of the decorations is remarkable and charming, with trompe l'oeil motifs such as the lid with its acorn and the handle imitating a branch of great realism, entirely in the naturalistic spirit of the period. Insects such as butterflies and caterpillars are painted with remarkable delicacy.
