Desiderio da Settignano (c. 1428-1464) was one of the greatest Florentine sculptors of the Renaissance. A pupil of the Donatello school, he is particularly famous for his busts of children, with their great psychological delicacy and poetic naturalism. Today, his works are housed in major museums, including the Louvre, the Bargello in Florence and the National Gallery of Art in Washington.
