Large Center Table, L158cm, Piedmont, Louis XIV Period
Large center table in gilded and carved wood, with rich decoration typical of the Louis XIV period: the belt is a long frieze of scrolls and foliage, with a face/macaron in the center.
The 4 legs are decorated with intertwined quivers and caducei.
This table is topped by an exceptional yellow Spain brocatelle veneer top.
The name given to this marble comes from the Italian "brocato", originally a textil working technique giving relief and a dense pattern to the piece.
Brocatelle marble, whether from Spain or France, is a delicate marble to work, and was used for rare pieces.
Some carved wood elements have been restored, there is some missing frieze, and wear and tear to the gilding - a few chips to the top
Piedmontese work from the Louis XIV period.
Height 90cm
