"Mazarine Table In Jasmine Marquetry "
A beautiful Louis XIV style center table, a stately model known as the Mazarine, with a rich jasmine motif in the Franco-Flemish style, inspired by the designs of Pierre Gole (1620-1684) and Leonard Van der Vinne (1650-1713). A remarkable piece from the mid-19th century, embodying the elegance and refinement of the Second Empire, it features extensive marquetry inlaid on an ebony ground, showcasing a wide variety of precious wood and ivory veneers forming a luxuriant floral design. A Medici vase rests on a tabletop with broad, leafy, and floral scrolls framed by birds in the upper corners. The front opens with a large drawer in the frieze, extending along the sides and the opposite face with acanthus and floral friezes. An elegant turned base, resembling sculptural columns that combine movement and stability, is joined by a double-edged X-shaped stretcher decorated with floral and foliate marquetry, bordered by a frieze of ivory trapezoids. This center table or desk combines technical virtuosity and ornamental richness in perfect harmony between its top and base. The piece is offered in very good condition, with a beautiful, genuine French polish finish, crafted from precious woods: boxwood, holly, satinwood, Rio rosewood, cherry, natural pearwood, and hornbeam. It measures 115 cm long x 75 cm wide x 75 cm high.
