Napoleon III Period Glove Box.
Composed of blackened wood, rosewood, satinwood and rosewood veneers, as well as brass and mother-of-pearl inlays.
Elegant rectangular case featuring a refined décor of engraved foliate scrolls framing a central cartouche. The lid is highlighted by a wide chamfered rosewood veneer providing an attractive contrast with the blackened surfaces.
The front, architecturally decorated with fine brass fillets, retains its original functional lock and small key. Brass fillet keyhole. The interior is entirely veneered in rosewood.
Very good overall condition. Old varnish slightly recharged and repolished.
