This antique tapestry from the 17th-century Flanders manufactory depicts a sumptuous hunting scene in the middle of nature, typical of the great Flemish decorative compositions of the period. In the center of the work, several elegantly dressed hunters pursue a wild boar in the middle of a lush wooded landscape. The figures are accompanied by hounds launched into lively, animated action, conveying all the intensity of the pursuit.
The lavishly vegetated setting, treated in a rich palette of blues, greens and ivory, showcases the refined craftsmanship of Flemish workshops. Stylized architecture and mountains appear in the background, adding depth and perspective to the composition.
The wide, gold-trimmed border on the back of the painting is a perfect example of the artist's skill.
The wide border adorned with figures, floral garlands and decorative motifs elegantly frames the main scene and bears witness to 17th-century aristocratic taste. The whole exudes a noble, theatrical atmosphere, characteristic of prestige tapestries destined for stately homes and castles.
.This work combines ornamental richness, fine execution and narrative dynamism, making this tapestry a remarkable testimony to early Flemish textile art.
