Rosewood Pedestal Table, Transition Style - 1st Part 20th Century
This oval rosewood pedestal table perfectly embodies the spirit of the Transition style, where rocaille curves soften to herald the coming rigor of the Louis XVI style. Its curvaceous top features a beautiful light-wood floral marquetry on a butterfly-wing veneer simulating lozenges. It is encircled by an ingot moulding that catches the light and highlights the richness of the rosewood. The scalloped belt, punctuated by chased bronzes, adds a supple, refined line. The slightly curved legs are enhanced by bronze falls adorned with a ribboned bow and garlands of flowers. They end in a small trim piece that extends the elegance of the decor. The spacer shelf, also encircled by an ingot moulding, ensures perfect harmony between balance, finesse and functionality.
A decorative piece of character, perfectly representative of the elegance of the Transition style and ideal for sublimating a classic or contemporary interior.
