Pair of Victorian Sterling Silver Bonbon Dishes, Elkington & Co., London 1897


A fine and decorative pair of Victorian sterling silver bonbon dishes (sweetmeat baskets), made in London in 1897 by the renowned silversmith Elkington & Co. Ltd.


Each dish is of elegant oval form, featuring beautifully executed pierced and reticulated decoration with a combination of geometric and foliate motifs. The shaped, scalloped rims are enhanced with cast detailing, and the bodies are supported on four cast foliate scroll feet, giving the pair a refined and elevated presence.


The craftsmanship is of a high standard, typical of Elkington’s late 19th-century production, combining decorative appeal with functional form.
