Antique Platinum 5.00+ Carat Diamond and Pearl Floral Spray Brooch

An exceptional antique platinum, diamond and cultured pearl floral spray brooch, designed as an elaborate flowering bloom surrounded by sweeping diamond-set sprays.

Substantial in both scale and construction, the brooch is set with an estimated total diamond weight in excess of 5.00 carats, combining old-cut, round brilliant-cut and baguette-cut diamonds in a sophisticated three-dimensional composition.

At the centre of the jewel sits a lustrous 8.5 mm round white cultured pearl, forming the heart of a beautifully modelled five-petal flower.

Each of the five sculptural petals is individually pavé-set with approximately 15 graduating old-cut and round brilliant-cut diamonds, creating an exceptionally rich concentration of approximately 75 diamonds across the flower alone. The open-backed construction allows light to enter the stones while revealing the quality and complexity of the workmanship when viewed from the reverse.

Surrounding the central flower is an exuberant asymmetrical spray of platinum branches, further embellished with approximately 18 round brilliant-cut diamonds and seven rectangular baguette-cut diamonds. The contrasting diamond cuts give the jewel exceptional texture, movement and brilliance, with the baguettes providing crisp geometric accents against the softer floral composition.

In total, the brooch incorporates approximately 100 diamonds, with an estimated aggregate diamond weight exceeding 5.00 carats.

The reverse is equally impressive, revealing an intricate openwork platinum gallery and wire framework supporting the individual gemstone settings. This exposed construction demonstrates the considerable craftsmanship required to create such a complex jewel while keeping the setting visually light from the front.

For additional security, the substantial brooch is fitted with a double pin mechanism and sliding sleeve tube lock, appropriate for a jewel of this size and weight.

The reverse framework bears an oval “950” fineness mark, indicating high-grade platinum. There are no conventional assay office hallmark symbols present.

Measuring approximately 53 mm (2.09 inches) across and weighing 15.7 grams, the brooch has considerable presence when worn and is a particularly striking example of fine floral diamond jewellery.
