Important and rare pair of pendant sculptures in white Carrara marble and green onyx from Algeria. Inspired by the famous "Sleeping Ariadne" model in the Vatican Museum. These large-scale high reliefs are unsigned. They are attributable to a first-rate Italian workshop in the Carrara or Florence region. The chasing work is of the highest quality, whether for the flowing drapery of the garment, the facial features or the hair. Although this is a decorative workshop production and not a unique work by a listed great master, the work is of very high quality. The rarity here lies in the fact that it is a pair of pendants in perfect mirror finish, 48 cm long. The set is in good condition. Very fine original patina. There are a few small signs of age-related wear, notably on a nose, a toe and on two pleat edges of the dress (see photo details).
