17th-century Painting: Madonna In A Garland Of Flowers, Rome
A fine 17th-century oil painting on canvas depicting the Virgin Mary in prayer, framed by a rich and opulent floral garland. The work is attributed to the famous Roman workshop of Giovanni Stanchi (Rome, 1608–1675), one of the most important and active dynasties of “fioranti” in Baroque Rome
The complex and detailed botanical frame, rich in roses, carnations, and vividly colored tulips emerging from the dark background, is the work of the master florist, while the delicate and intimate bust of the Madonna is the work of a figurative painter from the same circle
The painting is in good overall condition, with a period patina that enhances its authenticity. The canvas is framed by a molded and gilded wooden frame from a later period (not contemporary), which elegantly encloses the work, bringing the overall dimensions to 76 x 61 cm.A work of great devotional and decorative charm, ideal for collectors of still lifes and Roman Baroque painting
