Message case / Billet doux period circa 1800.
Turned wood body with three compartments topped by an ivory tower.
The painted scenes in a bucolic setting represent the adventures to conquer "the Queen",
the size of the object is out of the ordinary: height 23.5 cm / diameter 5.5 cm
painting particularly well preserved, no wear. It must have fallen off, one missing on the crown of the dome
and two others much smaller.
I did not force to screw the top cover completely, it closes
three quarters.
