Victor Creten was a Belgian artist born in 1878 in Schaarbeek and died in the same town in 1966. He was a painter, watercolorist, poster artist and architect. He trained as an architect at the Académie de Bruxelles. As a painter, he produced landscapes, seascapes, park and garden views, beach views, figures and still lifes. A realistic style with a luminous touch. As early as 1907, his posters heralded the Art Deco style. He had a brilliant career as an architect, designing the Grand Bazar and the Bon Marché on Rue Neuve in Brussels. He also helped rebuild the village of Pervijze after the First World War. From 1921, he taught decorative composition at the Institut Bischoffsheim in Brussels. He is mentioned in BAS I and in Deux siècles de signatures d'artistes belges. Source : Piron
