Magnificent and rare 19-monkey orchestra in Meissen porcelain ( Affenkapelle ) ; a German work circa 1890.
The set includes : 1 conductor and 18 statuettes of musician monkeys ( 19 pieces in total ! ) on terraces underlined with rocaille ornaments in relief heightened with gold polychrome decoration marked , crossed swords in blue.
Models after Johan Joachim Kaendler.
Height of statuettes: 13 cm and 17 cm for the conductor.
The set is in good condition, with a few small dents.
