Alexandre - Marie Longuet (1805-1851) - Bohemian And Poetic Scene

Nineteenth-century oil on canvas depicting a poetic and allegorical scene in a Symbolist and Romantic spirit.

The composition shows a languid female figure, accompanied by two children dancing in a wooded landscape, bathed in soft, diffused light.
The whole develops a dreamy, evocative atmosphere, typical of this transitional painting between Romanticism and Symbolist sensibilities.

The name "A.M. Longuet" appears on the reverse of the stretcher, linking the work to the French painter Alexandre Marie Longuet (1805-1851), known for his poetic, mythological and gallant scenes.
However, this attribution remains to be confirmed.

The warm palette, vaporous modeling and softness of the figures give this work a particularly seductive decorative presence.

The painting is presented in its antique gilded frame (a few chips).
