Born in Ronco sopra Ascona, in the Canton of Ticino, on October 25, 1821, he moved to Florence in 1833,C. was immediately placed in private drawing lessons with his first teacher, who was likely Emesto Buonaiuti, and remained entirely uninvolved in the activities of the Florentine workshop run by his father and paternal grandfather Francesco Antonio, descendants of a family with a long tradition of working in Florence in the field of interior decoration.
