Raymond Louis Allègre(1857-1933), French artist. A painter of Provence landscapes, Allègre was alsoorientalist painter. A student at the École des Beaux-Arts in Marseille,he was a friend of Jean-Baptiste Olive, another renowned Provencal painter. Hecontinued his artistic training at the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris in theJean-Paul Laurens, Antoine Vollon and Léon Bonnat. He paintslandscapes of the Paris region and Normandy as early as 1875, then returned toto Provence. Exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1880 to 1932. In 1900, he participated,with two panels (Algiers and Cassis), to decorate the "Le Train bleu" restaurantTrain bleu" restaurant at the Gare de Lyon in Paris. Awarded Chevalier de la Légiond'honneur in 1903.
