A student at the Rouen School of Fine Arts, his work places him in the city during the First World War (Tirailleur sénégalais à Rouen in 1915). After that, he mainly lived in Dieppe. His favorite themes are cabaret scenes, racehorses, especially from the Dieppe racecourse, and still lifes.
