Italian Reliquary Of Saint Lucy - 18th Century
An ex-ossibus relic of Saint Lucia, Virgin and Martyr, sits at the center of our gilded, tenderly polychromed wooden monstrance. Although her name evokes light, she lived in the shadows. Lucia of Syracuse Virgin and martyr in Sicily (+ c. 305) was very popular and her cult dates back to the first centuries.
