Pair De Lampes Françaises En Terre Cuite Estampée à La Main - Clertan France - Circa 1950
Charming pair of decorative French hand-stamped polychrome terracotta lamps, attributed to the CLERTAN France manufacture, circa 1950.
These elegant lamps depict generous fruit baskets blending bunches of grapes, pears and summer fruit in a highly decorative spirit typical of the 1950s.
The volumes are particularly harmonious and offer a beautiful decorative presence. The polychrome shades of green and ochre and the antique, lightly powdered patina bring a great deal of charm and authenticity to the ensemble.
The underside bears the words:
Hand stamped - CLERTAN - France"
and "Modèle déposé".as well as "Modèle déposé".
An original invoice from a Biarritz decorator dated 1954 accompanies the lamps and explicitly mentions "fruit basket lamps", reinforcing their provenance and authenticity.
The conical shades in ecru color harmoniously complete the ensemble.
Note the slight differences in dimensions between the two feet, characteristic of the period's craftsmanship and in no way altering their very beautiful presentation as a pair.
A refined decorative ensemble evoking the elegant interiors of the Basque Coast and the resort homes of the 1950s.
