Jean Marec's life and career as a painter is very poorly documented.
He was born in Brest on February 13, 1901, his father a cashier at Banque Populaire.
He married Yvonne Wolff in Auray on February 13, 1921.
It is not known where or how he learned to paint.
He remarried Jeannine Grossain in Angers on September 25, 1953.
The couple moved to Corsica near Cargèse. He died in Piana on February 11, 1972.
