Louis XVI Style Mantel Set - Cage Clock And Its Candelabras - Marble And Bronze
Important Louis XVI style chased gilt bronze mantelpiece - cage clock and pair of candelabras
Beautiful and elegant Louis XVI style mantelpiece, composed of a cage pendulum accompanied by its pair of three-light candelabra, crafted in finely chased and gilded bronze, resting on white marble bases.
The clock adopts a "cage"architecture, much appreciated by enthusiasts, revealing the movement through its four glass sides, giving it great visual lightness and a particularly decorative character. The case is richly decorated with garlands, foliage falls, knotted ribbons and floral motifs, typical of the Louis XVI decorative vocabulary.
The circular dial is framed by a finely chased gilt bronze mounting. The ensemble is surmounted by an elegant decorative urn in white marble adorned with gilded bronzes, an emblematic motif of the neoclassical aesthetic.
The matching candelabra, with three arms of light, echo the same decorative repertoire with their leafy volutes, slender shafts and white marble bases, forming a perfectly harmonious ensemble with the clock.
This trim is distinguished by the quality of its chasing and above all by a very beautiful, particularly luminous gilding, beautifully highlighting the many details of the decoration.
The clock is complete with its gong, key and pendulum.
The movement works, but hasn't been overhauled recently.
A very fine decorative mantel set, elegant and refined, ideal for a classic interior or to accompany stylish furniture.
