Léonor FINI (1907-1996)Argentine painter, engraver, lithographer, theater designer and writer, naturalizedFrench citizen. After a tumultuous childhood between her Argentinian father and Italian mother,Leonor left her family at the age of 17 and moved to Milan, where her firstfirst solo exhibition in 1929. A love affair brought her to Paris in 1931. Herfirst exhibition was held at the end of 1932 at Christian Dior's Galerie Bonjean.Dior, the masterpiece being Le Travesti à l'oiseau, a portrait of AndréPieyre de Mandiargues, with whom she moved in 1935. While she exhibited herwith the Surrealists in various European galleries, she also explored aalso explored a dreamlike universe featuring closed-eyed figures - usuallyor androgynous young men. After the Second Worldthe Second World War, she experienced her artistic ascendancy with severalcreation: Les gardiennes and L'époque minérale (1950-1960), Les grandshats, Les trains, Les belles dames sans merci (1960-1970), Les jeux de vertige andjeux de vertige and Les cérémonies (1970-1980), the so-called "nocturnal" period, Lesfables, Les passagers and Les somnambules (1980-1995). She also producednumerous paintings, drawings, watercolors and prints in tribute to cats,In 1977, she published a book entirely devoted to her passion for felines, Miroir des chats.des chats".
