Roman micro-mosaics were mosaics made up of micro-fragments of glass called tesserae, assembled together to form a picture.
The mounting of our box is in 18-carat gold, hallmarked with an eagle's head and bears the hallmarks of master goldsmith Alexande Leferre, Paris: 1838/1848.
