Marble Bust Of A Young Girl By Guglielmo Pugi (1850-1915), Italy, Late 19th Century
Elegant bust of a young girl with a delicate face and peaceful expression. The figure wears a wide bow in her hair and a supple drape falling to her shoulders, accompanied by a finely treated bodice. The softness of the features, the refined modelling of the face and the naturalistic treatment of the garment reflect the Italian aesthetic of the late 19th century.
Realized in white marble and resting on a turned marble pedestal, the set displays great finesse of execution and an elegant decorative presence. The work is distinguished by the quality of the modeling and the harmonious balance of the composition, characteristic of sculptures by Guglielmo Pugi, an important Florentine sculptor of the Belle Époque.
