Bronze “les Fondeurs Du Moyen Age”, Circa 1900.
Important patinated pewter and gilt bronze group depicting two young men supporting a monumental bell inspired by medieval church bells. The composition reflects a historicist interpretation of foundry workers, typical of the late 19th century.
The naturalistic modelling of the figures contrasts with the richly decorated bell, adorned with oak leaf garlands, stars and stylised trophies.
Signed on the bell Louis-Albert Lefeuvre (1845–1924) and bearing the foundry mark Siot, Paris, a renowned Parisian art foundry.
