Napoleon Bonaparte Library Bronze Sculpture First Empire
A beautiful patinated and gilded bronze sculpture of Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte from the late Empire period, circa 1820.
The emperor is depicted standing, arms crossed, holding a sword and wearing a bicorne hat, in a majestic and thoughtful pose that expresses his determination. An identical statue is found on a model of a clock made by the Parisian clockmaker Thomas around 1820 (pages 611-612, Dictionnaire des horlogers Français- TARDY).
Excellent condition, with well-preserved original mercury gilding and original patina.
