Antique French Victorian Miniature Doll Sleigh
A recently discovered treasure during an antiques hunt in France, this exquisite Victorian sleigh miniature is a fine example of 19th-century French decorative craftsmanship.
The sleigh features sides and back richly adorned with Louis XV-style scrolls, enhanced by finely painted tin panels depicting garlands of flowers and mischievous angels. The wooden structure is enhanced by a gilded scrolled base, contributing to its refined and elegant allure.
The interior is upholstered in sumptuous red velvet and gilded passementerie, characteristic of the luxurious finishes of high-end miniatures from this period. The backrest fabric shows traces of wear normal for its age, but the piece remains in excellent overall condition.
This piece was made by the Poullier-Longhaye house of Lille, a renowned family of textile manufacturers. Founded in 1844 by the marriage of Adolphe Alphonse Poullier and Hermance Victorine Longhaye, the company quickly established itself in the linen and cotton sector. These decorative miniatures were often produced as collectors' items, for dollhouse furniture or as luxurious display pieces for luxury products such as watches or perfumes.
