Second Empire Umbrella - Excellent Condition - France, Circa 1850.
Charming mid-19ᵉ century umbrella, whose silk canvas has been replaced by a pretty yellow silk satin while retaining the original bangs. It is in perfect condition.
The handle is carved bone. The parasol features two ingenious systems typical of the period:
- An upper metal ring for tilting the canvas when open
- A central ring for folding the umbrella in half, for easy storage or access to a carriage.
It measures 22,04 inches long when closed and approximately 17,32 inches in diameter when open.
