Mahogany Secretary, Louis XVI Style, Napoleon III Period - 2nd Half 19th Century
This superb Louis XVI secretary in solid mahogany and mahogany veneer captivates with its balanced proportions and noble materials. It is crowned with grey marble shaded with brown, delicately surrounded by a brass baguette forming a corbin beak, which refinely emphasizes the furniture's silhouette.
The front, punctuated by fine brass fillet inlays, highlights the warm depth of the mahogany. The secretary opens with a top drawer, a flap and three drawers in the lower section, offering a clear and functional organization. The flap reveals a neat interior with three drawers fitted with lentil knobs and a central niche, ideal for storing correspondence and writing accessories. It is upholstered in new black leather, adorned with a gilded vignette and a central arabesque motif, bringing an extra touch of elegance to the workspace.
The five locks and their original keys, all in perfect working order, testify to the integrity and quality of this piece of furniture. The brass fluted uprights, the encircling brass baguettes, and the toupie legs finished with a brass collar and shoe, recall with precision the codes of the Louis XVI style and give this secretary a noble and timeless allure.
An elegant and luminous piece, this secretary brilliantly combines functionality, authenticity and decor, and will naturally find its place in a classic, contemporary or professional interior.
