Bowenite Perfume Bottle, Gold And Ruby Setting - Late 19th Century.
Blenite perfume flask, gold and ruby setting - late 19th century
Charming perfume bottle with an elongated ovoid shape, cut from a celadon-green hard stone, probably bowenite, a material prized for its finesse and silky appearance.
The body is adorned with nine rubies set in cabochons in yellow gold lozenges, forming a precious, regular decoration.
The neck is encircled by a gold mount, topped by a hinged stopper also in gold, retaining its original system, with a translucent cut stone button.
This type of flask, both a toiletry object and a piece of jewelry, could be worn as a pendant or kept in a refined kit, testifying to the taste for precious objects at the end of the 19th century.
Late 19th century work, circa 1880.
Yellow gold setting and nine rubies set.
