Rare Fez Belt Complete With Four Ikat Patterns - 19th Century Morocco
Nineteenth century
Morocco
Precious double wedding belt from Fez in an Arabo-Andalusian design that has not been cut in half. Woven on a Hispano-Moorish handloom, it features four different designs and colors, including orange, purple, blue and cream. The reverse ikat weave is just as interesting as the right side. A rare detail, in the center and at the division of the four decors, we can observe ikat color fades resulting from the weaver's gradual change of thread color. Beautiful stitched finishing at the edges and long knotted bangs in two-tone silk at both ends
A very slight patina from use, but no stains or holes. Very good color and condition.
Dimensions: 39 cm wide by 242 cm long and 55 cm bangs.
