Late 19th Century Gilt Frame. Made In Saint Petersburg
Nice little late 19th century frame in stuccoed and gilded wood, decorated with foliage in the corners and crossed ribbons.
Stamped on the side is the maker's mark: A.Gecele rue des Pois 45 Saint Petersburg. It is dated 1888.
It should be remembered that the Russian aristocracy spoke more French than the language of the country, so it's not surprising that a supplier to them would mark his fabrications in the language of Moliere.
Some minor wear otherwise very good overall condition.
