émile Gallé Parrot Bouquet Holder In Glazed Earthenware
Very rare and attractive parrot bouquet holder in polychrome glazed earthenware, with painted decoration on a slightly pinkish white stanniferous glaze. The piece adopts a particularly expressive form, featuring a perched parrot, wings spread, treated with a remarkable sense of movement. The decoration, entirely hand-painted, combines subtly nuanced bluish and pinkish tones, enhanced by delicate details in the treatment of the plumage. The central opening holds a small bouquet, giving the piece a decorative as well as a utilitarian function. The original hanging system, still in place, is evidence of its wall-mounted use.
