Joé Descomps-cormier - Group Of Three Nude Women - Terra Cotta With Patina - Edition
Elegant sculpted group in patinated terra cotta depicting three nude young women, treated in a harmonious and sensual composition, characteristic of the production of Joé Descomps-Cormier (1869-1950), a renowned French sculptor of the Art Nouveau and early Art Deco periods.
The work presents three female figures with graceful attitudes, joined in a revolving movement, evoking the classical themes of bacchantes or female allegories, dear to the artist. The quality of the modelling, the smoothness of the anatomical transitions and the treatment of the hair bear witness to a work inspired by the great sculpture workshops of the Belle Époque.
The base bears a signature "J. Descomps" as well as a publisher's stamp, and retains its original label from the merchant-publisher Paul Guastalla, 39 rue Royale in Brussels, attesting to an early and careful distribution.
This piece is inscribed on the label "J. Descomps".
This piece is in the tradition of early 20th-century art editions, intended for a clientele of enlightened amateurs.
