Native American Chiefs War-bonnet
Native American Indian chiefs headdress. The actual body being made from red felt that has been intricately decorated with coloured glass beadwork. A line of shell buttons also decorate the front with feathers mounted above, each attached with a red cotton roll which sewn to the skull. Two glass beadwork roundels are mounted to the side, these support two tails of light brown, human hair. Rare to find early Native American headdress, circa 1880s-1900. We believe this may belong to the Cherokee tribe but can not be certain.
