Gaston Parison
A luminous and elegant vision, two feluccas sailing along the Mediterranean coast by the "Africanist" painter Gaston Parison. A vibrant presence of the boats, with their burnished gold colors and towering masts, traversing the blue and white expanses with pink reflections of sky, land, and sea.
Gaston Parison was born in Paris in 1889 and died in 1959.
He was a pupil of Cormon at the Beaux-Arts in Paris.
He participated in Paris in the Salon des Artistes Français, of which he was a member of the society, and in the Société Coloniale des Artistes Français.
He was a member of the Société Coloniale des Artistes Français.
He was awarded the Valérie Havard prize in 1921.
Parison was a painter-traveler. By the time he arrived in Madagascar in 1933, thanks to a travel grant, he had already been to Canada, the United States, Mexico, Brazil, Senegal, North Africa and Constantinople.
He is featured in Lynne Thornton's "LES AFRICANISTES, peintres voyageurs".
