Serge Belloni (1925–2005) Montmartre Louise Michel Square from Sacré-Coeur, oil on canvas, circa 1970

Description:
Serge Belloni, known as "The Painter of Paris," devoted his artistic life to capturing the timeless essence of Paris and Venice. Day after day, in all weathers, he immortalized the ever-changing faces of the City of Light and the City of the Doges.

This fine painting transports us to Paris, offering a splendid view of Square Louise-Michel in Montmartre as seen from Sacré-Cœur in spring—a rare subject for Serge Belloni. Belloni favored spending autumn and early winter in Paris, where the bare trees revealed the city’s authentic architecture and soul, while the rest of the year was devoted to capturing Venice’s unique light.
