A truly rare collector's item, Bas Relief in Sèvres cookie, typical of the work of the moulding-repairing workshop of the Manufacture nationale de Sèvres, soft matte white.

The style and quality are exceptional; model based on an 18th-century allegory. Mythological/allegorical subjects were the specialty of the sculpture workshop.
The Manufacture nationale de Sèvres, active since 1740, still operates today with 27 workshops and some 30 crafts. On this piece, we can clearly see the work of
The molding-repairing workshop specifically dedicated to sculpture, reparage is the hand finishing stage. After demolding, the craftsman takes back all the details of the sculpture - drapery, faces, fingers, ornaments - to reaffirm them or sculpt them freehand. This is what gives Sèvres cookie its legendary finesse. You need to look at the back of the cookie, where you can see quite clearly the support of the thumbs that held the piece in place.
