Jean Marais (1913-1998)
Actor, director and writer, Jean Marais retired to Alpes-Maritimes in the 1970s after the death of Jean Cocteau. He settled in Cabris, where he spent fifteen years, then in Vallauris where he practiced pottery, sculpture and theater. He opened art gallery "Le Fournas" thanks to a couple of potters friends. His creations, anthropomorphic or zoomorphic mythological figures, are inspired by ancient traditions and theater.
