Ritual Hogon necklace, attributed to the Dogon people (Mali), early 20th century and made of wrought iron.
It consists of a chain adorned with 25 stylized anthropomorphic figures arranged all around the object. Associated with the Hogon, a major spiritual authority, this necklace has a strong symbolic dimension, linked to the ancestors and the cosmic order.
The use of iron, a material charged with power, underlines its sacred character. Through the repetition and simplification of human forms, the object fully illustrates the aesthetic principles of Dogon art.
