Graphoscope mono in rosewood and thuya burr, glass hooping and beautiful Carte de Visite-sized brass clasp.

Size 9 x 14 x 3 cm.

Sold with Carte de Visite La Venus d'Arles

The first Graphoscopes appeared in the mid-19th century. They were used to improve the visualization of photographs on paper. They were equipped with a magnifying lens. This model is quite rare in terms of its size and decoration. In fact, its use is specifically reserved for viewing business cards, a format introduced by Disderi in the 1850s.
