Coat Rack - Blackened Bentwood - Attributed To Thonet - Model M.30 - Circa 1900
Blackened bentwood parrot coat rack, attributed to Michael Thonet, late 19th - early 20th century.
By comparison with early documentation and published examples, this model corresponds to model M.30 in the Gebrüder Thonet catalog of 1888, reproduced as model no. 1 in the Thonet catalog of 1904.
It presented all the characteristics of this iconic model:
head with eight double curved wooden pegs, central crown forming umbrella or rod holders, lower part with secondary pegs and base with four curved legs.
This type of furniture was intended for vestibules, hotels, cafés and bourgeois interiors around 1900. Today, it is an emblematic piece of arched wooden furniture, particularly sought after for its elegance and decorative presence.
