Francesco Di Marino
Francesco Di Marino (Naples, 1892-1954) was an Italian painter of genre scenes, lively views, and coastal landscapes. A pupil of Cammarano and then Dalbono, Francesco Di Marino faithfully followed the tradition of fine plein air painting, in the wake of the landscape concept established in Naples by the Posillipo School. In this way, he came to associate himself not only with his direct teachers, but also with Casciaro, Pratella, Scoppetta, and then Galante, De Corsi, Villani, and Viti, gradually refining his expressive means and coming to characterize his work with immediacy of perception, genuine emotion, and confident execution. Di Marino was able to transfer the fleeting aspects of nature and landscape onto canvas with a freshness of sensation and a soft yet full-bodied touch that not many painters possessed.
