Globe On Black Turned Wood Stand By G Thomas Early 20th Century
Artist: G Thomas
This very pretty globe dates from 1914 to 1925, due to the name of St. Petersburg, which here is called Petrograd; this russified name in fact lasted for ten years, before giving way to Leningrad. Unusually, the colonial territories that then formed the French Empire are represented here in red, lending originality to this model, erected by G Thomas 44 rue Notre Dame des Champs in Paris. It is mounted on a black-tinted turned wooden stand.
