Large Bronze Buddha Statue Rattanakosin Style Thailand
Large bronze statue, lacquered black and gilded with gold leaf, depicting the Buddha standing with both hands raised, palms forward in the gesture of fearlessness and serenity, "Abhaya mudra." Style of Rattanakosin Rama III (1824-1851), "Adorned" style: The Buddha is represented in a regal (Jambupati) aspect, emphasizing his majesty. Ornaments: The figures wear crowns (makuta), dangling earrings, necklaces, and robes decorated with floral or geometric patterns in colored glass. The multi-tiered base has a large nut at the rear where accessories such as a parasol could be attached. The wrists also have metal rings for hanging decorations. The ushnisha is removable.
There is a small chip on the left side of the robe, and a part of the gilding and lacquer is reglued on the right arm.
